UNPO Regional Meeting

Tallinn, September 8th, 2000

A day prior to the International conference "Ten Years of Unrepresented Nations and Peoples Organization and the Rights of Peoples", on September 8th, 2000 a regional meeting of the representatives of the UNPO members from the CIS countries was held in Tallinn. In the meeting mainly the organizational topics were discussed concerning the forthcoming UNPO Sixth General Assembly, improving the ties between UNPO members, financing of the UNPO and its Tartu Coordination Office etc.

Three resolutions were adopted:

1. On the Work of the UNPO Tartu Coordination Office;
2. On Founding of the Institute of the Rights of Peoples;
3. On the Place of the UNPO Sixth General Assembly.

Participants highly appreciated the work of the UNPO TCO during its existence of nine years. They approved the project of the Institute of the Rights of Peoples to be founded in Estonia. A proposal was forwarded to the Steering Committee, Interim General Secretary and Chairman of the General Assembly to take into consideration a plan to organize the next UNPO Sixth General Assembly in Estonia in the Spring 2001. Participants of the meeting also expressed their gratitude to the Government and Parliament (Riigikogu) of Estonia for the continuing support for the activities of the UNPO and its Tartu Coordination Office.
